And today got a whole lot better

Sometimes I find the way we start our day is often the way the day continues to show its wicked sense of humour.... BUT I am pleased to report that after falling out of the bed this morning literally, my day only got better.
What could possibly happen that would bring out my simmering optimism for life...well I shall share a little secret ..It was in fact a belt sander......A belt sander you ask "Yes" you hear me cry, sad I know but for a woman as in Tina Turners words of a " Certain Age " this object brought not only glee and excitement to my day but also a sense of relief that my broken up body had at last found an ally.
After enduring the discomfort of a thoracotomy in my mid twenties a broken collar bone, chipped shoulder bone and a broken calcanium in my foot in my thirties, which the latter resulted in my going out for a Friday night and resulted in a two week stay in the world famous Hull Royal Infirmary.... but as my friends (loosely named and you will be later !!) dumped me in the A and  E Dept and then continued their night I rest assured I did not spoil their evening..selfless to the core !!! .Then of course there is most recently a fractured left hand, so anything that takes the pressure of these weary bones has to be welcomed with great excitement.
Also as time is a lot more precious now than it was in my twenties and thirties, where I spent many mornings suffering the effects of alcohol related shenanigans ...self inflicted of course, the time saved with yet another wonderful gadget is priceless. Tables, tallboys, chairs have all had the soft caress of my 800 watt Challenge Extreme sander racing across it at the speed of light today.......Its dulcet tones bringing sheer delight to my neighbours whose waving brought even more happiness to my day......they were of course not waving but trying to get my attention ..earmuffs are clearly now on Santa s list for them.
So during the course of my day many items otherwise destined the great wooden furniture graveyard in the sky will make their way into new homes bringing as much delight to their new owners as they have to me re-loving them. So my lesson today has to be use your time wisely ....... buy a belt sander to smooth out those rough edges in life xxx

The Saga of the Black Paint ...or not very black paint !

Or so I thought my day began rather late...... What is an alarm clock if not to ignore... but of course with one being so 21st century and technologically equipped there is in fact one thing I can no longer live without my  mobile and it is that that breaks through the peaceful serenity of my sleep,  and throwing that only aggravates it into going off every five minutes until you finally surrender, get up and accept its permanent existence in your life, and so it began at the shameful hour of ten hours after midnight.

Given the fact that I had eventually won the battle with the back door the previous day I rather confidently threw it open to welcome the warmth of the early July sun . It did not disappoint so after my regular caffeine intake I started the day paint brush poised to bring a blackness into my life with the new granite black I had just purchased !!
This unfortunately did disappoint I had expected a brilliance of black that would shine through any dull day ...what I in fact got was a dishwater washed slate grey of a black I can only describe as depressing.......The tall stool I promised by tea time looked more and more like becoming the same shade of death I felt would overcome me if I failed to meet my own target......on that subject time management is not my  strongest point these days and after two hours battling I finally admitted defeat. I text ed my lady whose excitement at hearing from me soon turned to dismay and disappointment.....Alas I failed..
It turns out black is in fact one of the first colours ever used in neolithic cave paintings and  I was beginning to think it would have been good if my chosen paint had flipping stayed there !!!. Who decided black could have a hundred shades clearly needs banishing to the same neolithic caves!!

After throwing the towel in and admitting defeat ,this time by a stool my  day somewhat improved after that .  I was overjoyed to have and forever grateful for my new microwave which performed  far better than the paint and certainly better than my old one which caused last weeks chicken to become woefully imprisoned in a radioactive prison. .Thank God for Tesco's own branded value white goods.  Mr Tesco will never know how grateful I am for that 32 points !!! and there endeth today's life lesson Do not assume the colour on the outside of a tin is anything like the colour on the inside !!!! little bit like life really xxx

And when I never nearly started!!

This morning I was awoken by birds singing and the smell of freshly ground coffee ...and then I opened my eyes and the sound of the birds was replaced by the sound of the traffic thundering down the road and the smell of coffee beans only to be replaced by the aroma of Harry (my dog) asleep on the pillow next to me....but never mind my day could only improve ...or so I thought.
Generally speaking a keys best attribute is the ability to open and close things ,well not in my house!!. The back door key refused to budge ,once again questioning my ability to function ...had it stuck.. did I pick up the wrong key....or once again had those terrible moments of memory loss disabled me from doing something I have done at least twice a day for 32 years.
This of course was no consolation to Harry who by now was jumping up like a kangaroo sat on a vertical twig.   This in itself posed me a further dilemma ....  do I let him relieve himself on the kitchen floor or do I entertain the passing motorists making the above mentioned noise in their automobiles on Sutton Rd to a floor show of me in my imfamous blue terry toweling Primarni dressing gown..... (there will be a full book written at a later date on the antics and sights of the world famous dressing gown) Fortunately for me and the motorists the hand of God stepped in and the said troubled key turned.  Panic over,  time for the first of my five cups of Nescafe before I can even think about facing the world...............

Well it may as well be here

Well where to start........well firstly it has to be in my favourite colour PURPLE but I am feeling very in the pink today. Not even sure whether anyone will ever read this or whether or not I will ever find my way back onto my blog so I can actually read it!! Which of course could mean one of a few things, either the early signs of dementia have set in or I am just totally high on the wonderful fumes of  the wax polish I have been using for the last five hours.  Have I been cleaning you may ask... heavens above no I flipping well haven't it is after all gone midnight and what self respecting woman would be cleaning at this time of night !!
It is of course the fumes from the wonderful wax I use to polish up my preloved and reloved furniture back to life......On that note it may be a good idea to  maybe  change my No7 night cream for Annie Sloan clear wax and see if has the same  beneficial effects upon my front drawer ! I will get back to you on that one...........well on that note as this is my first blog and as I said it may disappear off into cyber space only to be seen by those green eyed aliens which frequent our planet only to visit channel four viewers I am for the moment going to bid you farewell Goodnight and God Bless xx
